Write The Laws Act

Pass the Write the Laws Act

End legislation by unelected bureaucrats

Why do we need the Write the Laws Act?

The Constitution established a “separation of powers.” The rule-making power belongs to Congress. But unelected Executive Branch bureaucrats impose thousands of rules on you each year, without congressional approval. To solve this problem, Agenda Setters by Downsize DC created…

The Write the Laws Act (WTLA)

Senator Rand Paul has introduced the Write the Laws Act in the Senate. The bill number is S. 84.

WTLA requires Congress to debate and vote on every regulation created by Executive Branch bureaucrats.

Congress cannot delegate this power. WTLA also instructs courts that they cannot enforce any regulation passed in violation of these requirements.

Here’s how we’ll pass this reform

The 300

Three hundred constituents will visit your local congressional offices in constant waves of 3, 5, or 6 people. Similar groups of 300 will be at work in every congressional district. This should cause a majority of representatives to cosponsor this bill.

Option Activism

When you “take an option” on something action is delayed until certain conditions are met. Option Activism means you won’t have to do anything until doing something is sure to work. In this case…

  • We won’t schedule meetings until all 300 people are committed.
  • You can go at a time convenient to you.
  • You won’t have to speak much unless you want to.
  • The bill will pass and the world will change when a majority in Congress co-sponsors it.
