Presidential Poll results
By Jim Babka
You can listen to this very hot show! It's "attached" to this blog post in mp3 format. This was the hottest episode I've ever had for my ONE-HOUR Sunday show (actually 42 minutes!). * We took 16 calls! And somehow, we lost three others (SORRY Roy in MO, Jim in DC, and Anne, Chicago). * We read from 8 additional emails and we received 118 messages by the time I signed-off. Wow. We'll get to the results in a moment. But first, thanks to my sponsor Gun Owners of America. The link for the "GOA Update" about the anti-gun immigration bill today was... And that link contains another important link explaining how an anti-gun administration might use the powers found in the immigration bill to close down gun shops. OK, here's the poll. I scored it in the following fashion... * First choices got one vote. * Second choices got one-half vote. * Scariest votes got a full one vote, unless the voter mentioned two or three candidates, and then I divided it into one-half or one-third, respectively. If a voter mentioned more than that, it was too complicated for rapid tabulation and no negative vote was registered. So, the score has the total of postive firsts and seconds, minus the negatives. That's the first number. The second number is the total number of times the candidate was MENTIONED (voted for) in first, second, and negative (a third, half, or whole). Congressman Ron Paul got the most mentions and the highest positive mark. Clinton and Guiliani got the second and third highest mentions, respectively. I think, by virtue of their current front-runner status, they also got the highest negatives. What's interesting is that some conservatives cited Guiliani as their most feared and some liberals cited Hillary. And were it not for the fact that so many folks split their vote between the two, it would've been worse. Only one person cited Clinton and two Guiliani as their first choices. These are polarizing figures. Republicans 1) Ron Paul +83 1/2 ~ 103 2) Rudy Guiliani -26 1/2 ~ 35 3) Tom Tancredo +7 3/4 ~ 12 4) Fred Thompson +4 3/4 ~ 10 5) Mitt Romney -3 ~ 7 6) John McCain 0 ~ 4 7) Tommy Thompson -1 ~ 3 8) Jim Gilmore +1 ~ 2 9) Duncan Hunter +1 ~ 1 10) Mike Huckabee +3/4 ~ 1 11) Sam Brownback 0 ~ 0 Other non-candidate mentions: Newt Gingrich, Colin Powell, and Walter Williams Democrats 1) Clinton -36 ~ 50 2) Gravel +7 1/2 ~ 13 (none negative) 3) Edwards +5 1/2 ~ 10 (none negative) 4) Kucinich +6 1/2 ~ 9 (none negative) 5) Obama +2 ~ 9 6) Richardson +1 1/2 ~ 3 7) Biden +1 ~ 1 8) Christopher Dodd 0 ~ 0 Other non-candidate mentions: Al Gore (+2 3/4 ~ 4), Libertarians 1) Whoever the LP nominates +6 ~ 9 2) Wayne Allen Root +4 ~ 5 3) Steve Kubby, Christine Smith, and George Phillies +1 ~ 1 Other non-candidate mentions: Michael Badnarik Green 1) Ralph Nader +1/4 ~ 1 Hey, even I, Jim Babka, got a +1/2 ~ 1. Thanks Dann!
