Quote of the Day: "The policy of the American government is to leave their citizens free, neither restraining nor aiding them in their pursuits.” - Thomas Jefferson
THANK YOU for helping to repeal one pernicious part of the Obamacare law. The "1099 provision" would have buried businesses in paperwork, forcing them to file forms for everyone with whom they did more than $600 in business.
It took a year, but Congress finally repealed this silly provision, and President Obama signed it into law last Thursday.
DownsizeDC.org campaigned for its repeal, and YOU helped make it happen. This is another proof of concept. If enough people rebel the politicians will submit.
But this is just one small step. Now we need to repeal the rest of Obamacare.
Not only that, but The State, at all levels, must get COMPLETELY out of healthcare. That's the ONLY WAY that costs will come down and healthcare will be accessible to all.
You may borrow from, or copy this letter . . .
I congratulate Congress and the President for FINALLY repealing the 1099 requirement that was part of the Obamacare law. It would have been a nightmare for small businesses.
But the rest of Obamacare is still a nightmare and must be repealed too. At best, Obamacare imposes totalitarian controls (such as the individual mandate) and does NOTHING to control costs. At worst, it's a Trojan Horse that paves the way for a command-and-control healthcare system. This must be prevented.
But even the "status quo" before Obamacare was terrible. The ignorant say it was a "free market," but that's nonsense. The Federal State was already paying about half of all the healthcare costs in the country, and it imposed innovation-strangling regulations on all the rest.
It is you politicians, and The State, at all levels, but especially the Federal State, that has made healthcare so expensive and inaccessible. That's why we can reduce the problems with healthcare to one word . . . Statism.
Obamacare does NOTHING to fix this. Instead, Obamacare is Statism writ large.
Only a REAL free market can make healthcare affordable and accessible to all.
I have the right to my own body, and to my own healthcare decisions. This principle is enshrined in the Ninth Amendment. It's also common sense. The State has NO BUSINESS prohibiting me from . . .
* joining ANY kind of non-profit or for-profit organization that provides health coverage
* choosing what can or can't be covered in my health insurance
* choosing ANY kind of medication, even if it's homegrown or homemade; the DEA should be abolished and FDA rulings should be made advisory rather than mandatory
* choosing ANY kind of healthcare practitioner that I want; there should be no licensing laws and it should be up to ME to decide if I trust a doctor's degree, certifications, or reputation
Matters like medical fraud and malpractice should be addressed in the local jurisdictions where they happen. The Federal State has no role to play. Please end Statist healthcare. Start by repealing Obamacare.
And again, THANK YOU for helping make it happen. Share this good news with your friends.
