What Do Immigrant Children, Forest Fires, and Israel Have in Common?

I sent a letter telling Congress to pass the One Subject at a Time Act.

Please do the same. You may borrow from or copy this letter…

I laughed when S. 2648, an “emergency” spending bill (that spends the money next year), failed to pass the Senate. It would have provided…

* $2.731 billion for the children immigrant crisis

* $615 million for wildfire management

* $225 million for Israel's missile defense

These items have NOTHING to do with each other. Why were they clustered into one bill?

Because the Senate wanted to rush the bill through before the August recess.

As a result…

NO provision passed!

But…

Later this year, they will ALL be funded in a thousand-page, trillion-dollar “omnibus” bill that will fund dozens of different programs, and you'll allow NO time for meaningful debate.

Still, you claim you're part of a “representative government.” And that's not funny.

To regain some legitimacy, pass the One Subject at a Time Act (sponsored by Rep. Marino and Senator Paul). It…

* Requires each subject to be considered separately

* WON'T allow you to cluster unpopular and unnecessary bills with urgent or “must-pass” bills

Start representing me!

–END OF LETTER–

Send your letter using DownsizeDC.org's Educate the Powerful System.

And there's one more powerful thing you can do to advance the One Subject at a Time Act.

After you've sent your letter, you can use our Tell-A-Friend system or you'll receive an email, with a copy of your letter. Use either method to share this bill with friends.

  • Encourage them to join you in writing Congress

  • Tell them it's free

  • Tell them how simple it is, especially after they've registered the first time

Thank you for being a DC Downsizer,
